Melissa earned her AA, AAS, AS from Lakeland Community College, her
Minor in Psychology and Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Youngstown State University. She earned her Masters of Social Science Degree from The University of Akron. Melissa earned the Phi Alpha (Honors), and MSW Social Work Student of the Year 2018, and was on the Presidents List.
She currently works with individuals providing substance use, mental health and gambling treatment. Melissa also works with First Responders with Substance use, Trauma and Gambling.
Melissa has experience working in women’s Residential treatment and as a Forensic Assessment Counselor at the Lake County Jail.
She is certified in Trauma (Trauma-Informed Care to all approaches), uses a Person-centered skilled in CBT and CBT-TF, Motivational Enhancement Therapy.
Melissa facilitates Aftercare, Alternatives, and has developed the Gambling Group in 2023 (one of only 3 in N.E. Ohio). Melissa is also a member of the Problem Gambling Network of Ohio Fellowship Program 2023-2024 class.
Melissa is EMDR trained currently studying for EMDRIA Certification and a member of the NASW.
