Problem Gambling

Problem Gambling

A 2017 statewide survey by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services estimated that as many as 900,000 Ohioans could face a gambling problem. Those considered at-risk for a gambling disorder nearly doubled from 5.7% five years ago to 10.3% today.

Prevention Education

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers provides outreach and education for Gambling Awareness and Problem Gambling Prevention. These programs are designed to benefit both the general public and specific at-risk populations. Some groups that are more at-risk than others for problem gambling are:

  • 18-24 year olds
  • Senior Citizens
  • Youth
  • Men
  • Veterans
  • Athletes
  • Individuals with a history of alcohol/drug abuse
  • Individuals with a family history of problem gambling
  • Parkinson’s Disease and Restless Leg Syndrome patients

The education/outreach sessions are a fun and positive learning experience that utilizes research data, interactive activities, and giveaways. These sessions provide new knowledge, encourage discussion and help participants gain awareness and understanding around problem gambling and its expansion.

The sessions are offered at our agency or can be provided on site at your location within Lake and Geauga counties.
